I wanted to extend the conversation of skincare and beauty by briefly talking about makeup. Skincare focuses on making sure your skin is healthy, but did you know that makeup can also assist in that area as well? I’m seeing more beauty brands adding mineral makeup to their lines, and this intrigued me. So far, people have told me that they’re afraid of using mineral makeup because they’re scared their makeup will look thick and that it will clog their pores. But what they don’t know is that mineral makeup is a great option! I’ve used mineral makeup on clients and myself, and I found that it’s a great selection for different makeup looks -especially for that natural “no makeup” look that everyone has been doing. In addition, mineral makeup is a great alternative to normal liquid makeup in that it is much more healthy for your skin and does not containing harmful chemicals. So today, I’ll be taking you STEP BY STEP to achieve a natural, everyday makeup look using mineral makeup.

The Wellness Institute recommends Mineral Hygienics 100% all natural mineral makeup. Please feel free to browse their products on our website: shop.wellness-spring.org

Step 1: Start off with a clean and moisturized face.
This is important in order to prevent your skin from breaking out and will keep your makeup looking fresh.

Step 2: I recommend starting with spot treating and then build from there.
Take your mineral concealer or foundation in your exact shade and apply it on areas where you feel you need the coverage. With mineral makeup you want to start with a small amount on your brush. Swirl the product into the cap, tap off any excess, and apply it on your face. You may slowly build the product if you feel you need more coverage. Work the product into your skin using circular motions. And remember: you’re not trying to COVER your skin. For a natural look, think of it as enhancing your skin.

Step 3: Brows.
Using a mineral matte eyeshadow in your perfect brow color, fill in your brows. The general tip is to choose color 1 -2 shades lighter than your hair color if you have darker hair, and 1-2 shades darker if you have blonde or light brown hair. Fill in your brows in your desired shape using light, feathery upward strokes, so as to mimic the natural brow hairs.

Step 4: Eyes.
Using the eyeshadow you used for your eyebrows, apply it onto your eyelid and stay as close as you can to your lash line. This will give the illusion of thicker, fuller lashes. Once you have the color on your lid, use a small brush or Q-tip to blend out the color slightly. Curl your lashes and apply your favorite mascara.

Step 5: Apply blush to the apples of your cheeks.
Mineral blush is a great product for creating a natural, slightly flushed/sun-kissed look. Take the mineral product onto your brush, swirl the product around the cap to evenly distribute the mineral products onto the brush, tap off the excess, smile and apply it on your cheeks.

Step 6: Finally, apply a beautiful lipstick color!
Choose one that will make you feel good. For daytime, I recommend applying the lipstick in the middle of your lips and then use your finger to blend out the color. This gives a very soft, fresh look.

And that’s it! I hope these steps help you achieve a beautiful natural “no-makeup” makeup look – a look that will never go out of style! Before I end this post, I just want to remind you that makeup is fun, and should never be seen as something you NEED. Love yourself and the skin your in! Thank you so much for reading and please look forward to our next blog post.

Best,

This class opened her mind because it focused on the importance of listening to our body. She learned that even though medication and drugs can minimize pain, physically or mentally, sometimes the problem has a deeper root that needs special attention.
