Autumn is finally here! In case you missed it, September 22nd was the start of the new season.

Like many people, I do enjoy the long summer days and warm summer nights. Indulging in outdoor activities, going to the beach, basking in the sun, and breaking out the barbecue grill…those were some of the fun summer activities we enjoyed.

When I was a young adult, I always felt sad when summer ended because summer was when I felt more alive and energetic. Now, as I hit my fabulous mid-40’s (LOL!), I’ve finally embraced Autumn. I’ve learned that just because summer is over, it doesn’t mean that things have to be boring. In fact, while the days may be shorter, Autumn is actually the perfect time for inner reflection, and a wonderful time to start taking better care of ourselves.

Check out these 4 “Whole Health” ideas so that you can enjoy the Autumn season:

1) CREATE A HEALTHY SPACE AT HOME
During the Fall season, we spend more time indoors. So why not create “health and happiness” at home? There are holistically healthy ways to relieve stress indoors…here are a few ideas:

* Enjoy A Relaxing Bath
After a long week, the weekend is a great time to enjoy a long and relaxing bath. Use healthy body washes, soaps and essential oils to keep your skin moisturized. Epsom salts also help soothe the skin and muscles. Don’t forget to light some candles, and play some relaxing music to create a spa experience at home.

* Watch Movies that Make You Laugh
Maybe you had a bad day or a bad week. It’s time to get cozy under the blanket and watch some fun movies that makes you feel warm and fuzzy.

When I go through a particularly stressful time, and need to feel inspired to move forward, watching a “feel good” movie always makes me smile. It’s a great stress-reliever!

* Diffuse Some Essential Oils
Essential oils are a great way to bring holistic health into your home. Eucalyptus essential oils help reduce stuffy noses and head pressure for those who have sinusitis problems. Rosemary essential oils help improve concentration and boosts memory. Lavender, Chamomile and Neroli essential oils are great for stress and anxiety.

2) PAMPER YOURSELF & TAKE TIME TO REFLECT
The Autumn season is an ideal time to invest in your well-being. Taking the time to slow down is great for our health. When we feel healthier, we feel happier. Try these practical pampering ideas:

* Treat Yourself to Regular Massages
Whether you like Deep Tissue, Swedish, Hot Stone or Shiatsu massages, make it a point to relieve your tired muscles regularly. Your body and mind will thank you.

* Start a Yoga or Meditation Practice (or take your current practice to the next level)
Yoga and Meditation are both great as they unite the body, mind and breath. This allows us to connect to our inner being. Spiritual health is just as important as physical and mental health. Take the time to reflect, and you’ll feel more peaceful and relaxed.

3) KEEP YOURSELF FIT & HEALTHY
It’s important to continue exercising even during the colder season. Do something that makes you feel good. If you enjoy walking, try taking a 75-minute walk 3 times a week.

What if it’s just too cold to go outside? Consider bringing your exercise activities indoors. You can invest in a stationery bike or maybe do yoga at home. If you enjoy swimming, consider an indoor pool at the nearest fitness center! Another way to stay fit is to DANCE to your favorite music!

4) GET ORGANIZED & CREATE POSITIVE ENERGY
A lot of things happen during the Autumn season, especially with the onset of the Holidays which allows us to re-connect with family and friends both far and near. The festivities and the family gatherings are definitely reasons to love this time of year. Spread some positive energy by donating time or items to a local charity.

Autumn is also a great time to clean our home and office. Dedicate some time to stay organized so that you can prepare for the soon-to-come winter months. Remember, the first quarter of the coming New Year is definitely a busy time.

So while you take the time to relax and reflect during the Autumn season, allow yourself to prepare for the coming New Year. Always keep a positive mindset. You must believe that the coming New Year is going to be the BEST year yet!
